Another Study on Weather and Earthquakes

On the heels of the finding of a correlation between earthquake activity and weather in India and Greenland, comes another study claiming a link between weather and earthquakes in tropical regions. In this case, the activity of rain-bearing cyclonic storms is associated with geological activity in Taiwan and Haiti. Researchers with the University of Miami have noted a positive correlation between excessively wet cyclone seasons and earthquake activity in subsequent years. Like the India study, the proposed connection is to the rainwater the collects on the surface of the land, adding weight to the land near fault-lines and increasing erosion, which shifts the weight of the land.
